1834 - 1876
Sarah Martin was born about 1834, probably in Claiborne County, Mississippi. Her father was Richard N. Martin and her mother is unkown. Since she was quite a bit younger than her siblings, so it's possible that her mother was her father's second wife.
By 1850 the family was in Franklin Parish, Louisiana. Sarah was in the household of her brother Alexander Martin, and her father was living with another brother, George Washington Martin.
On April 12, 1853 Sarah married John Montgomery in Franklin Parish. With John Montgomery, she had a son, Prosper Pius, and a daughter, Margaret L. John died before 1860. Sarah and her two children are listed in the Franklin Parish census that year, post office Winnsboro.
Sarah then married Henry Cook on August 21, 1861. After they were married, Henry went away to fight in the Civil War, and was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1862. After Henry returned from the war, he and Sarah had three children together. She died in 1876 or 1877 in Franklin Parish and is buried in at an unknown location.
